When assessing any abnormalities that may or may not have developed with age, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson started participating in clinical research studies in the fall of 2023 for a second time. She first learned about clinical research studies, as a participant through Brigham and Women’s Hospital Infectious Disease Department between 2016 to 2018. In a state that is favorable to many for not only their healthcare insurance, but the State of Massachusetts is an open source to medical advancements that left Carrie with little excuse not to participant in the early detection of health-related concerns that relates to her immediate bloodline. Carrie Elizabeth Johnson’s immediate bloodline would consist of her biological parents and their biological parents that would be up for examination by Carrie, herself and not her biological parents’ offspring that Carrie did not come from nor love, like or care about. Being the only child of both her biological mother and alleged biological father that was never listed on Carrie’s birth certificate, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson first took part in a research study relating to her first-time offense DUI, from March of 2014. The research study was called, “Patient Perspectives on discussing safety & ongoing substance use while parenting” that came in the form of an online focus group. Carrie was among four other individuals that included two other participants, the former recovery coach/facilitator and the research study coordinator from the offending hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital. Through an encrypted hospital zoom account, the session lasted for about 90 minutes of Carrie’s time with notes taken from the discussion and dialogue, back in November of 2023.

After filling out a pre-screening online form, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson became eligible for her next research study that involves the advancement and improvements of magnetic resonance imaging or MRI, as a healthy volunteer. The research study was called, “Seeking Healthy Subjects for an MRI Study on Brain Tissue Microstructure” that the visit lasted approximately 2 hours in total and 90 minutes under the MRI scanner in exchange for monetary compensation. Carrie completed her research study visit on November 20th, 2023, at the MGH/HSTMartinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, located in Charlestown, Massachusetts. With in that same week, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson completed her third research study that involved a PET/MR session on November 22nd, 2023. The third research study was called, “Do you want to participate in a multi-modal brain imaging study?”. Carrie fell under the study participation group #1 that the research study visit lasted about 4 hours in total. The research study team was studying the modulation of task and sleep on brain metabolism and physiology using simultaneous PET/MRI and PET/EEG/MRI in exchange for $150.00 dollars monetary compensation too, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson as a healthy volunteer that was between the age of 18-85 years old. Carrie’s fourth research study that she participated in was called, “Peripheral nerve stimulation research study for MRI”, on December 1st, 2023. The research study team was measuring peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) thresholds of MRI gradient coils, as PNS causes minor muscle twitching or touch perceptions resulting from MRI scanner operation. The research study visit consisted of 2 hours over the course of one visit in exchange for $150.00 dollars monetary compensation.

While some health care professionals that worked in different research departments of Massachusetts General Hospital remained working, other researchers took days off for the holidays. Carrie Elizabeth Johnson, still proceeded with on-going research study visits throughout the month of December 2023 and continued to work on her PAL-65 coursework from the Fall 2023 college semester. It would not be until mid-January that Carrie Elizabeth Johnson would participate in her fifth research study to help improve liver ultrasound. Properly Titled, “Help Improve Liver Ultrasound”, the research study was being funded by General Electric. Carrie met the research study eligibility criteria to participant in receiving a “higher energy output” of a non-FDA approved General Electric Logiq E10 machine (ultrasound device) for the study. The research study consisted of 5 visits over the course of two weeks in exchange for $150.00 dollars monetary compensation. It was like that old saying, “killing two birds with one stone” that this particular research study appealed to Carrie not only for the purpose of filing state bar complaints against attorneys but also filing procedural complaints against the offending hospitals emergency staff who threw the stone at Carrie Elizabeth Johnson first, during an ER visit that the stone came in the form of “patient notes” written by the hospital staff in 2018. After completing her research study, Carrie allocated some of the funds towards purchasing her PAL-14 eTextbook for the Spring 2024 college semester. Through this research study, the researchers did find a benign lesion on Carrie’s liver that she followed up with a professional licensed medical doctor that specialized in livers to run additional required testing to ensure that the research study results did not pick up a false reading on Carrie’s liver.

Tufts Medical Liver Department did confirm that there was indeed a benign lesion found on Carrie’s liver through her abdomen ultrasound but reassured Carrie that there was nothing to be concerned about at that time. Carrie’s participation in the liver ultrasound study brought up a great observation about those who are on “Medicaid”. Some licensed healthcare professionals are not inclined to do testing at the request of their patients who use Medicaid as opposed to those who receive health insurance through either their employers or pay out of pocket medical expenses that this health-related early-warning sign could have easily gone unnoticed, had Carrie not participated in the research study and the researchers making Carrie aware of their findings in a study visit. Prior to the liver ultrasound research study, Tufts Medical Licensed MD did conduct a liver ultrasound but never mentioned seeing a spot on her liver at the time of Carrie’s doctor’s visit. On the contrary to popular belief that alcoholism is in fact a disease through genetic inheritance, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson does believe that all babies did come into this world drinking from a bottle, but it was milk and not alcohol. Like smoking, drinking alcohol is a choice with degrees of consideration in social and economic factors that contribute to an individual developing a consistent habit and tolerance level built up over time that would lead to serious health-related concerns. For genetic inheritance to “prove true” in developmental research of alcoholism being a genetic inheritance, the biological mother would have had to give birth to Carrie while she was under the influence of a substance. Whereas Carrie’s alleged biological father had gossip surrounding him of an alleged alcohol dependency, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson had no memory of her alleged biological father having had any “childbearing potential” to give birth to Carrie Elizabeth Johnson, by himself. However, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson did hold a memory of seeing her biological mother make chili with “Coors Light beer” as an ingredient when Carrie was in elementary school to eat.

While attending the University City School District, Parkway North School District and Redlands Unified School District, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson’s biological mother kept an “un-open bottle of wine with signatures on it” strategically placed in plain sight on a living room entertainment stand. So, when either Carrie or her mother would have guests come over to her biological mother’s apartment, all the guests would see the “un-opened bottle of wine” in plain sight go untouched for decades. Eventually that “un-opened bottle of wine with signatures on it” was given to Carrie by her biological mother when they were getting evicted from her biological mother’s Redlands, California apartment. Neither Carrie Elizabeth Johnson’ s biological mother or those from the Redlands Unified School District came to her aid by providing a character reference in her first-time offense DUI case that led to the illegal juvenile dependency court case in Orange County, California, as those from the U-City School District were not Carrie’s friends to begin with. The research team over at the Ragon Institute would publish another research study that Carrie Elizabeth Johnson would participate in, as a healthy HIV negative adult. Making it Carrie’s sixth on-going research study towards the progression in learning how the body’s immune system attacks HIV and other infections that is being funded by MGH, MIT and Harvard.

Given pre-exposure to undesirable communal living situations, Carrie sought out participation in the paid research studies for monetary compensation on her days off from work and accepted the free health test results to serve as a preventive measure in state and federal procedural complaints. Something that is common amongst those of African Americans heritage is type 2 diabetes that Carrie Elizabeth Johnson has a memory of her biological mother having some type of diabetes, as a child. She did witness (not as her companion but her biological daughter) her mother’s hand shaking one day in her Redlands, California apartment that she needed orange juice to drink when Carrie assumed that her mother did not have diabetes anymore. A researcher gave Carrie a contact on a diabetes research study at the Joslin Diabetes Center that will release some of the test results to Carrie to find out if she has diabetes herself. Her participation as a healthy volunteer is her contribution to society, despite others’ unspoken expectations that she is not required to do. The title of the research study is called, “Effects of Type 2 Diabetes on Senescence in White Adipose Tissue and the Circulation.” Making this research study that falls under her biological mothers’ health disposition, Carrie’s seventh paid research study that consisted of two separate visits that required about 6 hours in total of Carrie’s time. On the first visit, Carrie did have some questions regarding her health because of what pre-existing health information that she was privy to about her biological mother that Carrie did attend some of her biological mother’s doctors’ visits as a high school student waiting in the patient’s lobby. The perks of participating in research studies is the free health information from research studies that are catching the early warning signs of health-related risks that the research study coordinator told Carrie that in some cases that it is possible to “reverse diagnoses” if they are caught early. She will be finishing up the Joslin Diabetes Center research study at the end of February, making it a total of 7 research studies completed over the course of 3 months that she started back in November 2023.

As a Blogger & YouTuber, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson did a in-home YouTube video presentation on her personal home records filing system that she maintains personal family records on both herself and her only child, Skylar that has always been a part of her household which was posted on February 5th , 2022 that can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/5wG3o8tFl3c?si=GrO7lwarGKRvJAig . Some people know that through age, physiological changes will occur and if avoided can lead to mental and cognitive decline in oneself. Carrie’s encounters with the researchers, who use the term “underrepresented” frequently because there is a lack of representation found in their studies that Carrie feels is not a fair observation. All of Carrie’s research studies have been conducted during Monday through Friday’s normal business hours that most individuals are either working or in school. Carrie’s mother was fortunate to secure healthcare coverage through her employers that her mother has worked for several years, and many other individuals have full healthcare coverage through their places of employment as well. It is a clever approach to detecting any changes in Carrie’s body that her healthcare providers both in the past and present intentionally failed to document properly, intentionally ignored or tried to minimize some injuries that occurred at her places of employment, leaving Carrie financially destitute at certain times that required her to think and act fast. For the select few healthcare staff that try to order the required testing from Carrie’s research studies, it provides the healthcare professional a reason to get Medicaid to cover the expense and not Carrie paying for the medical expenses now. Not only will the results from both the research studies aid Carrie in her defense in both state and federal complaints but filing police reports in multiple states. Outside of Carrie Elizabeth Johnson’s participation in local research studies, she began her spring 2024 academic studies fully online with occasional attendance to professional networking events. Professional networking events are not required of  Carrie Elizabeth Johnson, as a paralegal student and was never mandatory unless done for a specific reason (Fall 2023 Semester Extra Credit Assignment only). Only those who hold a professional license or certified are sometimes required to meet continuing education, continuing practicing education or continuing legal education for a certain amount of hours or credits to maintain their professional credentials or designations.
